Frequently Asked Questions

What is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition caused by clogged pores, excess oil production, bacteria, and inflammation. It can appear as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, cysts, or nodules, and often leads to scarring if not treated properly.

Acne is mainly caused by a combination of hormonal changes, excess oil (sebum) production, clogged pores, and bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes). Other contributing factors include stress, diet, certain medications, and genetics.

No. Acne is not caused by poor hygiene. It is primarily driven by hormones, genetics, oil production, and bacteria. Over-washing or harsh scrubbing can actually worsen acne by irritating the skin.

Why do acne treatments need multimodal (combination) treatments?

Acne has multiple causes — bacteria, inflammation, oil production, clogged pores, and hormones. A single treatment usually cannot address all these factors at once. Combining LED light therapy, microneedling, PRP, and topical medications gives faster, more complete, and longer-lasting results.

Yes. Multiple clinical studies and dermatology guidelines show that combining treatments is significantly more effective than medication alone. Multimodal therapy addresses all causes of acne, delivers faster results, reduces scarring risk, and provides better long-term clearance.

Topical retinol (a form of vitamin A) works by speeding up skin cell turnover, unclogging pores, reducing inflammation, and preventing new breakouts. It also helps fade post-acne marks and improves skin texture over time.

  • Blue LED kills acne-causing bacteria without damaging the skin.
  • Red LED reduces inflammation, calms redness, speeds healing, and supports collagen production. Together they offer a gentle, non-invasive way to control breakouts with no downtime.

Dermapen 4 creates tiny controlled micro-channels in the skin. This stimulates natural collagen production, improves acne scars and texture, enhances absorption of topical medications, and helps regulate oil production over time.

Why is using sunscreen very important during acne treatments?

Acne treatments (especially microneedling and PRP) and topical retinol and certain antibiotics, make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. UV exposure can trigger new breakouts, cause dark marks (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), and slow healing. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 50 is essential to protect your results.

Acne is a chronic condition often influenced by hormones, stress, diet, and lifestyle. While our packages clear active acne and improve scars, maintenance sessions (usually every 3–6 months) help prevent new breakouts and maintain clear skin and improved texture.

What happens in the Initial Consultation?

The 45 minute session includes a detailed medical and skin history, clinical examination, discussion of your goals, personalised treatment plan, home-care guidance, and consent forms. No invasive treatments are performed on the day .

PRP uses your own blood. A small sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the growth factors, then applied during Dermapen treatment. It enhances healing and collagen production naturally.

Most clients experience mild redness and sensitivity for 1–4 days. PRP sessions may have slightly longer redness. You can usually return to work the next day with appropriate makeup if needed.

A topical numbing cream is applied before Dermapen and PRP. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or tingling.

What are postpartum stretch marks?

Stretch marks (striae) are tears in the deeper layers of the skin caused by rapid stretching during pregnancy. They commonly appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, and thighs. They start red or purple and often fade to white or silver over time.

While it is not always possible to remove stretch marks entirely, our treatment significantly improves their colour, texture, depth, and skin firmness. Newer (red/purple) stretch marks respond best.

The package combines:

  • Dermapen 4 (medical-grade microneedling) to stimulate collagen and elastin
  • PRP therapy using your own growth factors to accelerate skin repair
  • Red LED light therapy to reduce inflammation and boost healing

This regenerative approach helps remodel the stretch marks from within.

The full package includes 6 sessions spaced 6 weeks apart (about 7 months total). This spacing allows proper collagen remodelling for the best results.

Downtime is minimal — usually 2–4 days of mild redness and sensitivity. Most clients return to normal activities the following day.

Most women who have finished breastfeeding are suitable. We cannot treat during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. A full assessment is done during the initial consultation.

Visible improvement usually starts from 8–12 weeks. Results continue to improve for up to 6 months after the final session as new collagen forms.

Optional maintenance sessions every 6–12 months help maintain and further enhance results.
